Scythian barrows

Scythian barrows near the village of Butor are the largest archaeological monuments, widely researched from 1962 to 1978. Scythian burial mounds near the village were first discovered in 1969 and became the first find of this kind on the territory north of Tiraspol. Since then, attention to archaeological finds obtained because of studies of barrows near Butor has not weakened.

The study of the mounds near Butor, which are considered the largest Scythian burials in Pridnestrovie, made an invaluable contribution to the development of archaeological science both in the USSR and in modern Pridnestrovie.
